BICYCLE COACHING
Training:
Basic pre-season fitness, core conditioning, balance and strength
training, pedaling technique, speed, power, endurance, sprinting,
over-training symptoms and corrections, heart rate monitor, rollers and
trainers.
Riding Skills:
Pedaling, posture on bicycle, cornering, climbing, descending, bumping,
sprinting, pace line, time trialing, getting on/off bike, eating and
drinking on the bike, hopping obstacles.
Racing Skills:
Psychological and mental skills, visualization, focus and
concentration, race strategy, tactics, pacing, attacking,
counter-attacking, blocking, chasing, sprinting, clothing/equipment
selection.
Evaluation:
Establish aerobic/anaerobic threshold and training zones, specific muscle length and strength, working with your daily schedule.
Plans:
Multi-year, seasonal, monthly, weekly. Periodization,
rest/vacation weeks, selecting A, B, C, races and peaking, time
management.
Goals:
Short term, long term, and ultimate goals. Steps to achieve these goals.
